Common pay questions

At Hamilton Care, we directly deposit payments to our support workers’ nominated bank accounts. Clients, who seek support, create bookings that support workers accept, and services are rendered at the agreed times. To ensure inclusion in the upcoming pay period, worked shifts must be submitted to the client and approved by midnight on Sundays.

Additionally, Hamilton makes employer superannuation contributions in compliance with ATO regulations. These contributions are made to our default fund, HESTA, or to a superannuation fund of the support worker’s choice

Our Support workers are paid on a fortnightly basis, with the two week cycle ending every second Sunday, and pay day being the following Wednesday. All worked shifts need to be submitted to the client and approved by Sunday midnight. If approved late, these shifts will be paid in the following fortnightly payroll.

As a casual employee, you are entitled to 25% casual loading, in place of leave entitlements such as annual and personal sick leave.  This is in accordance with the FairWork National Employment Standards.

Hamilton Care support workers are not compensated for travel time to and from a shift (known as provider travel). However, if you have agreed to provide client transport and use your own car during a shift, you are entitled to claim a vehicle allowance of $0.90 per kilometer in addition to your hourly rate, as per the SCHADS award. This allowance covers the cost of fuel and wear and tear and can be claimed once the support shift has been completed.

Hamilton provides comprehensive insurance coverage to protect both support workers and clients. For all shifts booked and worked through the Hamilton platform, we offer Workers Compensation insurance along with other types of insurance.

At Hamilton Care, all support workers are employed as casual employees. As your employer, Hamilton handles all payroll duties, including:

  • Pay
  • Superannuation
  • Tax
  • Insurance
